Who wouldn't love Poppy?? Julia and daughter Allison sure did! Poppy was her normal energetic self and showed her new family just how social and fun she is. They were surprised, pleasantly, that she didn't have a moment of hesitation but walked right up to each of them when they walked in and gave them all a rub. Poppy loved playing with Allison, 15, and even let mom, Julia, hold her for a little bit for a photo op! Julia hasn't owned a cat in quite a while but she knew that Poppy was the right cat to bring her back to kitty motherhood. Always ready for adventure, Poppy easily went into her carrier without a peep and was ready to go home. Little Poppy has been a trooper and waited patiently for her home. If you don't remember, Poppy came to us with a group of cats from the pound that sadly succumbed to feline distemper that we didn't know they had. Thankfully Poppy and one other survived and we knew right then that she was special. Tonight she got the warm loving home that she's always deserved. A big thank you to the PCTs that have loved and cared for Poppy for the nearly 2 years she spent with us. On her way out I think she said "No offense, but I'm outta here, thanks for the laughs!" Congratulations Poppy, FCC won't be the same without you!

| Poppy is a fun loving, affectionate cat that is determined to live life to the fullest! And if anyone knows how precious life is, it would be Poppy. We rescued Poppy along with 5 other kitties...sadly there was a feline distemper outbreak among this group and only 2 of the 6 kitties survived - our Poppy being 1 of them. These are distant memories to Poppy now, as she embraces each new day wondering what exciting adventure is in store for her. Many volunteers have commented how Poppy has everything a family would want in a kitty - she loves to play if that's what you want to do, if you'd rather brush her, well she's up for that also. She's energetic, inquisitive, playful, and enjoys being pet and of course who doesn't love a good meal? She also gets along well with other friendly kitties. Her cute kitty face is hard to resist too! If you had to choose one word to best sum up Poppy though, it would be playful. Poppy adores slip sliding across the linoleum floor in hot pursuit of one of her mousies or balls. Feather wands are great fun as well, especially if you make the feather sneak around the corner of her scratching post...she can't resist and will promptly go into stalk mode to attack. She also has a ball with the weirdest toy in her room. The toy, if you can call it a toy, is a long piece of wire with cardboard knobs at various points on it and at each end. Anchoring 1 end of it under a stationary object (a bench cushion in this case) and then touching it causes the other end to erratically move around. She LOVES this. She gazes intently, crouches, wiggles, stalks, & then pounces! Then she backs up a few steps, keeping a watchful eye on it at all times, & starts the whole process all over again. Endless hours of entertainment not only for Poppy but for anyone watching her as well! The funniest thing to watch her play with is not actually a toy. Poppy is fascinated by water as it runs from the faucet. Once again she will go into full stalk mode - crouching, wiggling in anticipation, and POUNCE! She'll actually try to bite the stream of running water and looks so puzzled when it continues to run despite her best efforts. She'll attempt a few more bites before resorting to swiping her paw at it in an attempt to capture the running water that way. After many more tries (and a wet head and paws), Poppy is left to ponder a new strategy to try the next time she encounters running water. It is absolutely hysterical to watch her go through this process - especially when she bites the water - she really truly believes that is how to catch the water and the look on her face when the water keeps running is just priceless! Poppy is an amazing well-rounded kitty full of love and spirit. Although she lives each day to the fullest and loves life with us at RESCUE, won't you help her realize her full potential by providing her the home she needs and showing her how much more there is in life to love once she has her own home with her very own family to love?
