It's official! Our little Tango man has moved on, after two years of living in foster care with Alissa and Will, it was time that he found his forever family. As you can imagine, Alissa wanted to make sure that Cheryl, Tango's new mommy, was the absolute right fit, and was aware of Tango's little "quirks" before she adopted him. We have had mutiple meetings with Tango and Cheryl, and then she picked him up to stay for the week. Tango and Cheryl have become quite the little duo and she feels they are the perfect fit! Cheryl has seen his leash reactivity and already has Tango enrolled in behavior classes starting next week! She also hopes to do many activities with him, including agility training and/or Fly ball. Cheryl is keeping up her end of the bargain by making sure he gets lots of exercise, and is loving having a dog who is a little more "hearty" to do these activities with. (She is a former Pug mommy. :) ) Alissa and Will, I can't imagine saying good bye to an animal you have devoted yourselves to for so long. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the two of you, and know your little "Tango Butt" will always reserve a place in his heart especially for you. After some time passes, Cheryl welcomes visits from you so that you can be assured he is thriving. Congratulations sweet little man! (I hope you have forgiven us for thinking you were a girl upon your rescue and naming you "Lady Bug". :) We love you!!!!

General Comments: Looking for a perfect dog? Look no further! Tango is a Queensland Heeler mix, with the best traits of both worlds. He adores his people and insists on meeting everyone he sees. He also loves his canine friends and enjoys playing at the park, wrestling and having a game of chase. He does well with both large and small dogs, but does seem to have a soft spot for those little guys, altering his play style to fit his new friend. Tango is highly intelligent and learns very quickly. He knows some basic commands and tricks such as sit, lay down, shake, roll over, and stand. He has also learned to sit and wait for the "Ok" before he is allowed to eat dinner. He has great leash manners as well. Typical of the heeler breed, with that intelligence, comes a need for a job, something to do, that will stimulate both mentally and physically. Without that, he is easily bored. Tango would benefit from an active household where he could join his family for runs or hikes, as well as activities such as Agility, Flyball, and Herding. He will need daily walks and would love regular trips to the dog park. Also typical of the heeler breed is Tango's tendency to display some herding and mouthy behaviors, but he is easy to redirect and responds immediately when corrected. His foster parents consider it part of his charm. Tango enjoys children and would make a wonderful playmate for an older child. Tango still has a tendency to jump and may be a bit much for a little one. Tango currently lives with his miniature pinscher foster sister, and two feline foster siblings. While he does fine with these two cats, he has shown that he is not a match with every cat. This is something that will have to be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the cat. Tango wants to be friends with every animal, but he doesn't always realize that cats don't like to play the same way dogs do (silly kitties!). Tango would do well living with another active, playful dog, but he would also be fine as the only dog in the household. He is good at entertaining himself with his squeaky toys and rawhides. All in all, Tango is a great dog who will show his new family unconditional love, amaze them with his intelligence, charm them with his goofiness, and make them laugh every day over his crazy antics. His is a truly wonderful dog.
