It?s hard to believe we have had this magnificent boy for so long, and this was his first adoption appointment! With all that charm, it?s taken Ollie awhile to find his home, but as they say, it?s all in the journey. Ollie required a family with the patience, experience, and time to work through his "puppy like" tendencies and mischievous nature! Not only did the Culy family think they were up for the challenge, they invited it! Before the appointment, Paul could hardly contain his excitement to meet Ollie, and that enthusiasm only increased upon Jennifer Kat, and Ollie?s arrival. Jennifer shared,
"The family was eager to met him when we arrived. Erica, the 15 year old daughter, was a member of the process which was so great. The crate is setup in her room as well. :-) They seem to really spoil their dogs, as the dogs have access to furniture, toys and ah.. hem... plenty of treats. :-). They thought Ollie was beautiful. Oh, and they proudly brought out a picture frame with 5 pictures dedicated to their basset that passed ? Troubadore".
Jennifer and Kat did a great job on this appointment, addressing concerns about over indulging Maddie which they admitted doing since the passing of their last dog. They are dedicated to cutting back on the treats, and incorporating more healthy choices for Maddie, such as baby carrots. They are not over feeding her at meal times, it?s the extra treats that are affecting her waistline! They understand how important it is for her to slim down, (as their older dog is), and hold a lot of guilt for allowing her to gain a little. (she?s not obese by any means, but could stand to lose a few pounds!)
Ollie stayed for the rest of the weekend to ensure that Maddie would warm up to him as the Culy?s expected. Once all the strange humans were out of the household, Maddie engaged in play with Ollie, and they have been running around the house ever since! Paul plans on spending a lot of time at home watching Ollie, and has already crated him a couple of times during short times away from home. They could not be more thrilled to share the love in their hearts with another basset.
Thank you Kat and Jim for utilizing so much patience during Ollie?s stay with you. He?s come a long way since coming to your home and I am sure he will miss you!

| How can you not melt at the sight of this precious face?? Ollie is your typical Basset hound, a sweet and gentle boy who falls in love with everyone. He has a happy go lucky disposition and loves to romp around and play with toys, (he finds it quite fun to drag them outside through the doggie door!)- he is quite active for a "mellow" hound! He also loves being with his family and has tried to jump up on the bed to join then for naps, but his stubby little legs will not accomodate him! Ollie is still at the stage where he will require his home to be "puppy proofed", as he will pick up items off the floor and is a chewer; crate training will be a must with him until he learns what is expected. Our boy can be a little vocal when he's left alone, so an apartment or townhome that share common walls with neighbors are probably not the best bet! Ollie is a joy to have around, and basset lovers will not think twice about the extra slobber and slurpy drinking, :), but if you are not used to this, please know that your immaculate floors will be no more! Ollie also needs to have people play close attention to his ears. With their large size, he can't help but to dip them in his food, the ground, etc., so his family will need to keep them clean to avoid infections.
Ollie is living very well with other dogs in the household, and would love to share his home with another dog. If he is an only dog, he should have active folks who have plenty of time to spend with him, and provide lots of entertainment! Ollie really loves long walks, aah yes, any chance he gets to exercise that nose and get a good roll in the grass in! If you think you would like to explore the joys of Basset parenting, please check our boy out!

| Ollie was rescued from the West side animal care and control where he was listed as a stray. He got a chance to go up for adoption, but when nobody showed interest in our boy, RESCUE stepped in to provide him a second chance. Ollie weighed in at 40 pounds at the time of his rescue, but will definitely fill out some more.
